Great car for college students, or anyone else wanting a fun cheap ride. If I tone it down, take off slower, and don't speed shift, I can get anywhere from 34-38 MPG. I can drive it harder than any other car I've ever had, and the lowest MPG I ever get is 28. It has never leaked oil, no clicks, no knocks, and gaskets are all fine. The 'new' motor had 76,000 when I bought it at a wrecking yard. I actually put a 'new' motor in the car when I bought it. Sephia comes in base and fancier LS sedans, Spectra in GS and uplevel GSX hatchbacks with slightly different styling and equipment. It does need struts badly right now, but those have never been changed before, and we live on rough country roads so that is expected. I know other people that have this same model car, and their cars are still running great, cranking every time close to 300,000.

Moral of the story, be sure to change the timing belts on these cars and you can run them over 200,000 miles. When a car has over 170,000 miles on it and nothing has ever been touched in the motor, you shouldn't be running it over 6,000 rpm's. Studded tires, where legally allowed, follow the same recommendations above.I bought this car, because a little over 178000, the previous owner (who had only owned the car a month) blew the motor up when the timing belt broke.Winter tires operated in summer conditions may wear rapidly.Vehicles should never exceed the “top speed” of the lowest speed-rated tire on the vehicle. It is generally acceptable to apply winter tires with a lower speed rating than the Original Equipment/All Season tires for use in winter conditions however, speed should be reduced accordingly. All winter tires applied should be the same speed rating. If winter tires are applied to the rear axle of any vehicle, it is recommended (but not required) that they be installed on the front axle.Do not apply winter tires to only the front axle - this applies to all passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks, including front wheel drive, 4X4 and all-wheel drive vehicles. If winter tires are applied to the front axle of any vehicle, they must also be installed on the rear.Winter tires are best applied to all wheel positions. Some vehicles have specific recommendations regarding winter tires and their usage always check and follow the vehicle tire placard and/or the vehicle owner’s manual. For this reason, winter tires are best applied to all wheel positions. Acceleration was sluggish at highway speeds, with a raucous engine note and unimpressive fuel economy. In winter driving conditions, vehicle control - and safe operation - under braking and cornering is especially dependent upon the rear tires. Weak links included the brakes, tires and engine. It is important to drive with care, not only on snow and ice, but on dry and wet roads as well.

The use of winter tires while improving traction performance in snow and ice - requires special care with regard to acceleration, braking, cornering and speed. NOTE: Winter driving presents special challenges for vehicle mobility.
